The entertainer shared a statement in the wake of the death of her co-star in the beloved movie The Way We Were. His life ended surrounded by loved ones in the mountains of Utah.
Through social media, Streisand fondly recalled regarding their shared experiences while making the acclaimed picture.
“Each day during filming of our project proved exhilarating, powerful and completely magical,” she expressed. “We were such opposites: he loved equestrian life; I couldn’t be near them! Still, we made an effort to understand each other as people, much like our roles on screen. He had magnetic charm, intelligent, intense, always interesting—and a true master of acting. The last time I saw him, when he came to lunch, we discussed art and made plans to send each other our initial sketches. He was truly unique and I feel deeply thankful to have experienced the chance to work with him.”
An Enduring Impact
The film their classic collaboration was a critical and commercial hit featuring Streisand’s signature tune emerging as a chart hit and receiving an accolades from the film industry.

That same generosity and passion for creativity resulted in Sundance, an environment in which directors and writers grow together, inspire one another, and discover one another’s talent. Bob, thank you for your belief in me and for your kindness and direction.”
