Survivor Recounts Time That 'Deranged Individual' Attacked Manchester Temple

An individual who helped fortifying a Jewish temple in the Manchester area has described how a violent assault occurred, resulting in the loss of a pair of British Jews.

Early Thursday, Alan Levy was present in the Heaton Park synagogue when an attacker crashed into and assaulted worshippers coming together for a service to commemorate a significant religious event.

He noted that the 'monster' perpetrator attempted to bash down the doors of the place of worship, and he remembered securing the building with additional congregation members.

The victims, in their 50s and 60s died in the attack on Thursday, while additional persons were hurt while trying to protect worshippers.

Survivor Description of the Violence

He, who serves as a Chair of the Trustees at the synagogue, recounted holding the entrances and stated that the perpetrator used sharp objects and outdoor items to attempt entry.

I observed a large, menacing figure ram the main doors, attempting to break them open holding a sharp weapon," he explained to the media.

The single phrase that was audible was him saying 'this is what you're going to get for killing our children'.

"That's the only thing were spoken. We remained within the synagogue and we were saying 'we are not letting this man in'.

"He was a deranged, evil monster."

Ceremony Observed for Individual

The statements coincided with many individuals attended the ceremony for the deceased.

Close kin, attendees from the Heaton Park Hebrew Congregation along with Rabbi Daniel Walker, and participants of the wider Jewish community came together in the local area to show support.

Those present crowded the cemetery forecourt, with several standing outside the prayer hall in the downpour, following the service and eulogy over loudspeakers.

In a message shared on the following day, the victim's loved ones expressed that he was always willing to assist.

Authorities Investigation and Apprehensions

Local authorities stated that Mr Daulby may have been struck by officer shots as they engaged the assailant following the incident was reported.

He, who was hailed by his relatives as a "brave individual", was present at a service at the temple when the attack began.

He had been a dear family member, loving uncle to his family members and a dear extended family member," his loved ones added.

His loved ones are devastated by the tragic, sudden death of a genuinely good person.

What he did at the end was one of profound courage and he will always be honored for his courageous effort."

A number of apprehensions have been made in relation to the violence, and police indicated that a group were under arrest on that time.

Each of them were detained for commission, preparation and instigation of acts of terrorism.

The individuals detained include a pair of males, of specific ages and apprehended nearby; a 61-year-old woman arrested in Prestwich; and a middle-aged female apprehended elsewhere.

Other suspects were released with no additional charges, authorities stated on the following day.
