The Simpsons Arrives in Psyonix's Hit Game: But It's Not the Car Fans Are Hoping For

It was previously announced that The Simpsons was collaborating with Fortnite, but that's not the only place where fans can experience the world of Springfield. The long-running series is coming over to Rocket League, bringing along an in-game car skin that will also be compatible in the Fortnite universe. That said, if gamers will truly desire to equip it is a different matter, as fans have their hearts set on just one Simpsons vehicle the community is itching to drive, and this new offering isn't that one.

What Fans Really Want

While many gamers would absolutely enjoy to compete while driving The Homer—the famously flawed automobile Homer designed himself in the 1991 episode "Oh Brother, Where Art Thou?"—that's not what's being offered. Not even receiving the Canyonero, the heavy-duty vehicle featured in the tenth season. Instead, fans will obtain the family's standard beat-up sedan, which has been in the family since the show's early days. Though this specific vehicle has seen better days, it stands as an iconic element of the series. And for players who pay attention to the game's vehicle dimensions, the trusty sedan uses the identical collision model as the Dominus body type.

More Than Just a Car

And it's not the sole customization item from the show coming to Rocket League. The event will additionally feature a series of objectives to unlock additional goodies, all of which are inspired by the show. According to a press release, the missions will require players to "get as many centers and clears as there are The Simpsons seasons, gather boost canisters as if your GPS is set to The Simpsons’ residence, and travel a specific distance worthy of acquiring the ideal pastries!"

Although the full lineup of earnable items isn't yet disclosed, here is what has been confirmed so far:

  • Blinky antenna topper
  • Homer's hedge-themed banner
  • Garbage-themed wheels
  • 20,000 XP per challenge

If the key art is a reliable guide, it seems fans will also receive wheels featuring a TV displaying The Simpsons' opening credits, alien antenna toppers, a frosted doughnut trail, and rocket boosts themed to burning tires and Krusty Burger.

Event Timing and Fortnite Connection

The Rocket League collaboration coincides with the extensive Simpsons invasion of Fortnite's island, which brings a brand-new playable area of the fictional town, in addition to a 30-day Battle Pass. This special Rocket League and Simpsons celebration launches on November 1st and ends on November 17th.
